What are the recent updates to your subscription terms and conditions?

We recently communicated with our Direct Debit subscribers and customers who pay by recurring card payment for their subscription.

We’re updating our subscription terms and conditions to make them clearer and more transparent, with the changes taking effect from July 2025.

You’ll continue to receive your current subscription benefits. You don’t need to do anything unless you wish to cancel.

You can read our subscription terms and conditions in full online. For prepay subscriptions (prepay bundles) see the terms and conditions for the supply of products.

A summary of the recent updates

The recent updates to the subscription terms and conditions focused on the following topics.

Subscription renewal and auto-renewal
Updates to language regarding auto-renewal for consistency and to acknowledge payment methods across various products. All Direct Debit subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled, as do subscriptions paid for via recurring card payments. Auto-renewal terms are made clear at the point of purchase. All Direct Debit subscriptions will automatically renew unless cancelled. Subscribers will be notified in advance of renewal.
Cancellation policy
Subscribers can cancel anytime with cancellation taking effect at the end of the current subscription period. For example, if you pay monthly then you can cancel with effect from the next month. We explain in the terms and conditions how much notice you need to give to cancel your contract.
Cooling off period
Subscribers may exercise their cooling off right within 14 days by contacting us. Cooling off rights will not apply where the subscriber has chosen to access digital content immediately as part of their subscription.
General terms and updates
Minor updates have been made to wording throughout the terms and conditions for clarification purposes.

Other frequently asked questions

Why are you updating the subscription Terms and Conditions?

We’re updating our terms to provide transparency in how we manage subscriptions. These updates provide greater clarity on your rights associated with your subscription.

When will the updated terms take effect?

The new Terms and Conditions will come into effect three months from the date of the email or letter notifying you of the changes.

How will I know if there are changes to my subscription in the future?

Updates to our subscription Terms and Conditions will be posted here. We will continue to keep you informed by post or email if the price of your subscription is changing.

Will the price of my subscription change?

Subscription prices may change in the future, but if that happens, you will receive advance notice. You’ll have the option to cancel before any price adjustments take effect.

Do I need to do anything to accept the new terms?

No action is required from you. By continuing with your subscription beyond 1 July 2025, you automatically agree to the updated terms. If you have any concerns or wish to cancel, please contact our customer experience team (details set out at FAQ 10 below) before this date.

Can I cancel my subscription if I don’t agree with the changes?

Yes, you can cancel if you do not agree with the changes. However, we believe these changes offer greater flexibility and convenience for managing your subscription, and we hope you’ll continue to enjoy the benefits of being a valued DC Thomson subscriber.

If you have any questions or concerns about the updates, our customer experience team is here to help and ensure your subscription continues to meet your needs. If you still wish to cancel, you can do so at any time before the changes take effect. Cancellations will take effect at the end of your current subscription period.

Will I still receive my subscription benefits?

Yes, unless otherwise specified in the updates, your subscription benefits will remain the same.

What do you mean by “prepay bundle”?

We accept both recurring payment methods and prepay payments for our products. The updated subscription Terms and Conditions apply only to subscriptions paid for by a recurring payment method like Direct Debit or recurring card payment, and not prepaid products which we have referred to as prepay bundles.

Subscriptions paid for by recurring payment method continue until cancelled.

Prepay bundles are magazine products paid for via a one-off payment by card, cheque or another payment method such as PayPal. Pre-pay bundles end if you don’t renew at the end of the period you have paid for.
