Why have the solutions changed in Logic Problems?

We wanted to offer our Logic Problems readers even better value by increasing both the number and variety of puzzles in each issue. However, with paper costs rising, simply adding more pages would have required us to raise the cover price. Instead, we carefully reviewed the existing content to identify areas where we could save space within the magazine.

Our experience has shown that the full solutions occupied a significant amount of space in the magazine, while often providing limited value in practice. Unless a reader tackled the puzzle in exactly the same way and in the same clue order as the setter, the step‑by‑step solutions could be hard to follow without effectively starting the puzzle again. Most solvers we spoke to about removing the solutions told us they rarely, if ever, used them. We have, however, kept the full solution for the calendar puzzle, as feedback made it clear this is frequently referred to and genuinely helpful.

Condensing the solutions has allowed us to boost the puzzle content with five additional pages of puzzles, including three new puzzle types and seven extra puzzles.
